RING ASSOCIATED WITH CHARLEMAGNE:
Only the obscurest records of history relay that Charlmagne, Holy Roman Emporer of Byzantium during the turn of the 8th/9th, fell in love with a young German women to such a degree that he became distracted when his empire needed him most. The woman died and Charlemagne was so affected that he could not bring himself to bury her. Miraculously, she did not decompose for quite some time until Archibishop Turpin removed a ring from her finger. Abruptly afterwards her body fell into deep decay, as did Charlemagne's affection for her.
Curiously, Charlmagne's attentions turned to the Archbishop. It is not known whether the interest was returned, but we do know that the Archbishop suspected the ring had strange influence and, in penetance, he threw the ring into a lake. Once again, Charlemagne's obsessive interest turned to the lake itself and he ordered a palace be built near there where he was buried upon his death.
Unphased Members retrieved the ring from the lake at a much later date, the details of which have a higher classification than your credentials allow.
